Plaidness ...

Here are just a few red plaid things I've seen online that I like. I hope to get back into posting on this blog more often, as well as Denny's blog, too.

Plaid Preserves

Plaid certainly catches my eye ... whether it's clothing, doll clothes, or even food. I came across this jar of Mackays Ginger Preserve at an Albertson's store recently. I didn't buy it, which is stupid, because I'm a huge ginger lover. I'm sure I'll pick up a jar next time I'm there. I wish I'd gotten it because right now I have a really bad sore throat, and ginger always makes it feel better.

Daisy Plaid

I loved Daisy Ridley as Rey in The Force Awakens. I found myself relating to her character, just as I had related to Luke's way back in 1977 in A New Hope. When I saw this meme on Facebook, I knew I'd have to post it here because that's just how we Star Wars nerds roll.

Never Enough ...

So, the other day I was wandering around Walmart when something red caught my eye. It was this purse pictured above. There were only two left, and they were on clearance. I rarely buy purses anymore. I have so many as it is. Even still, I hardly ever buy them new. This one was only $7 on clearance, and it's really big, which I love. I think I'll need to iron it before I use it, though. It's a bit wrinkly.

I do have some plaid purses already, as you can see below. The big one with the green & red plaid came from Disneyland. My mother-in-law gave me that one for Christmas. I love it because it's really big, so I use it a lot when I travel. It's big enough to hold my laptop. However, with the green & red colors, it's a bit Christmasy, so I don't use it all the time. The one on the left was another Walmart find, and the lower one is more of a vintage find from a thrift store.

But yeah, yeah ... I know! How could I pass up another red plaid purse, especially one on clearance? We're talking ME, remember. It's an illness ...

RIP, Mrs. Reagan ...

I saw this dress on Pinterest and it's titled as being a suit Nancy Reagan wore. I haven't been able to find any photographs of her wearing it just yet, but I'm still looking. I am saddened to hear of Nancy's passing this morning, but it makes me happy to think she's with Ronnie again. He was truly the love of her life. Ronald was known to wear plaid many times as well. They will both be sorely missed.

ETA: I found Nancy wearing her red plaid suit on a tribute video from KTLA. Click here to watch it. It's a great tribute to Mrs. Reagan.

Seahawks Plaid

My favorite Seattle Seahawk—Richard Sherman—all decked out in plaid. How great is that? I believe this was part of a commercial or something for Oberto beef jerky. He filmed it with Rob Gronkowski from the New England Patriots, but I cut him out of the picture. He was draped in leopard-print, and none of that fit in here. <snort> I love how the plaid is blue and green ... the colors of the Seahawks.

Plaid Meets Houndstooth ...

I saw this purse at a local thrift store yesterday. It was on the small size, so it wasn't something I felt I'd use that much. I thought it was cute, though. I love the combination of the tartan plaid with the houndstooth print, not to mention the black bow being a nice addition. It was only $1.25 too.

Know your Tartans?

What is the difference between plaid and tartan?
Plaid's original definition is 'as a woolen cloth having a checkered or tartan pattern'. It evolved to mean any such checkered or tartan pattern. Tartan's first definition is a 'woolen cloth woven in stripes of various colors at right angles to form a rectangular pattern; also, the pattern and design of such a cloth'.

Plaid Doll Sighting ...

I saw this porcelain doll at a thrift store a few weeks ago. I don't collect dolls, so I didn't buy her, but I thought she was pretty. She would be an awesome addition to a Christmas collection with the green & red. I'm not an expert of types of plaids, but her dress almost looks like a Clan Kerr variety.

Plaid Sighting ...

I spotted this little doll at a Salvation Army thrift store yesterday. I didn't buy her, but she was kind enough to pose for a photo. It looked like someone had purged their collection of Holly Hobbie type dolls because there were quite a few like her. She was the only plaid one I saw.

Plaid Starbucks

I saw this Starbucks mug around Christmas time. I think it was at our local Target store. I really don't need anymore travel mugs, but this one is cool. I noticed Starbucks has a green plaid coffee mug similar to this, which would be awesome if it was red. Maybe they'll get some of those in sometime.

Happy New Year!

Like my other two blogs, I've really slacked off with this one as well. Hopefully, 2016 can be a new start for me to keep up with them better. I'm still all about red plaid, so nothing has changed there. During Christmas, I was wandering around some thrift stores when I came across this bear. Normally, I don't buy stuffed animals. I usually just take a picture and I'm good with that. Something called me to buy this one, and he was only 25-cents. I was thinking I might add him to my Christmas decorations, since that's where I found him.

However, upon looking at him closer when I got home, I realize his tag says "Dankin 1984". That means this little bear is thirty-two years old. Wow! Not only that, but I have a soft-spot for Dankin toys, since that was the same company that made the little dinosaurs my cat CJ used to love so much. So anyway, I have no idea where I'll put this little red plaid bear, but he's definitely here to stay.
